Choir Story

Two weeks ago at services, Larry Scott sat down on my music folder and ripped half of one side open.

You may not be aware of this, but I'm told the one piece of bedrock doctrine that absolutely all Christian and Christian-derived faiths subscribe to, is that choir rehearsal is on Thursday evenings. This week at rehearsal, I got there a little early and greeted the director with "Hi Coach!". (Once she had selected me for a small-group thing, and I said to my section members, "Hey! Coach selected me for the special teams!")

She laughed and said it was great to have someone calling her "Coach" again. Back when they used to have softball games one of the tenors had called her "Coach" for a long time afterwards.

And I said, "Well, as long as you're happy to be Coach, I have an equipment problem", and held up my ripped folder.

So we went down the hall to the office to get a new one. There were a couple ladies coming the other way, just arriving at rehearsal, and the director remarked to them, "Dan has a problem with his equipment."

Mortified, I said, "Hey!"
